Touch. Touch is highly underestimated. Touch is my main love language, for those of you who are familiar with the Five Love languages, those being: acts of kindness, quality time, gifts, words of affirmation and touch. My love languages (in order) are touch, words of affirmation and quality time. I do not have the ability to underestimate the power of touch because it is the way I feel loved and express my love. Anyone close to me knows just how much I hug. I require a daily minimum of 5 hugs per person, per day and when I don't get enough hugs I feel it and in turn my feelings are effected. So basically I'm clingy, on the upmost level. Most people when they hear or see that a person's love language involves touch, jump to conclusions about what that means. No I will not die if no one hugs me for a day. I will however reflect that onto myself and my "performance", my actions or character and make assumptions as to what that person may be thinking of me. I will feel rejected, unwanted or unloved. I will assume the worst about myself. I am a vessel of love, I love intensely. That is simply how God made me. If I don't receive the minutest example of love, a hug, a pat on the back, a hand being held, or some little example of a show of affection, it will effect my heart. The smallest touch means something. No matter if your love language is touch or not, just the act of someone acknowledging your feelings by placing one's hand on someone's back as they cry, or reaching out and squeezing someone's hand in one small pulse can be the connection and comfort that has the power to heal. It is an acknowledgement of one's own existence. If you feel, you know you're real. My point is this, do not, I mean this with everything in me, do not hug me if you are doing so unintentionally. I can feel it, it is completely noticeable. Be intentional with how you interact with people, touch is powerful. The science behind it alone should be enough to convince you. Do not waste time connecting with people who have no intention or desire of connecting with you. That being said, young people, and anyone else who this applies to, do not give yourself, your body, your heart, your time to anyone who does not act with the upmost certainty, awareness and intention towards you. Do not allow pieces of yourself to be used and forgotten. You have too much value to allow someone to have you so cheaply. Quotes from one of my favorite movies One Night With The King, "Love is the most stupid, and easily bought purchase" "If it is for sale, my lord, it is not love". All of that to say touch is highly underestimated by some, however you will no longer be one of them. You recognize the importance of you. You are incredible, how your mind, your will and your emotions connect. You see and understand your value. You are a vessel of love with too much value to be wasted on the unworthy. Let this acts as a touch to you. You do exist, you are loved and valued, that is simply how God made you.
Much love and hugs XOXO TM
